Hi, My sis has got an email from the US embassy in Canada. They required the following things to give her the tourist visa.

o The notice of suspension letter received at your interview.

o Your passport (must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in the United States).

o A self-addressed, prepaid express envelope, if we do not already have one on file for you.

o NO electronic items, food or liquids.

But what did they mean by : The notice of suspension letter received at your interview.

Looks like she was refused first and then they decide to issue visa?? my personaal understanding, as I couldn;t get this suspension letter means.

No, she faced the interview and she was asked when she came to Canada and for how long she was being living in Canada. Then they told her that she'd get reply about the visa in a month. Surely not a refusal. Still cant figure out what did they mean by saying that Suspension thing.

try to PM all the message to seniors like PMM, Leon or Rupeshhari, I am sure you will get clear this point.

I have no idea what suspension letter is :(

From experience and general understanding, a suspension letter, for example, in Employment cases would be to suspend someone in
order for the Company to conduct an investigation into an allegation that you have due to a "possible Offense".

It could mean that they issued you guys a letter in which you were informed that they will, and have to carry out further investigations before they will grant the OP a tourist visa.

In view of the above explanation, unless you detail the steps that happened before you were asked for the three other steps, I don't think you will find out what they mean by that suspension letter.

Did you ever receive any letter before this one?

Here you go,
I just searched for suspension letter on the CIC website and came across this: See whether any of them fits into your case.

What does the rest of the email say? If she is supposed to send those things to them for them to give her a visa, why would they state NO electronic items, food or liquid. As if she would send them food and liquid with her passport? It seems weird. I have never heard of a suspension letter. Did they give her any letter at the interview? If not, then write a letter stating that she does not know what a suspension letter is and that she received no letter at her interview and send that with the rest of the stuff they asked for.

I guess, when she comes in for the visa she is not allowed to bring in those things i.e no electronic items, food or liquid.

I guess, she must have received a letter prior to this one in which she was informed of the suspension i.e that they may need to do some investigations to clarify some issues before they grant her the visa. Again, I am just guessing.
