What all do they test in medical? This is a personal thing because I smoke and no one in my family knows. Will there be a lung xray where my black lungs will be visible? :P

I had:

Normal BP/Pulse check
Chest Xray
Urine test
Blood test
Additional blood test to check for Hep a/b/c because of my tattoos.

The chest xray is more for TB etc

Your medical may differ depending on what country you live in...

If you go on CICs website you may/will find approved medical centres local to you that CIC recommend.

It really is a basic medical unless you have pre-medical conditions etc

And the medical results are directly forwarded to CIC right? Without us getting a copy? I know it sounds really silly but I will be in a lot of trouble if anyone in my family gets to know I smoke

yes, they will directly upload on the portal and will not give the results to you.

You can request that the PP sends you the results the day they upload them.

Does anyone know if the cic medical officer has access to your home medical records? Do they contact your local Dr as well or just go by your eMedical results?

I dont believe they have access to your Medical Records - however i believe they can request them if required to substantiate any conditions that are flagged...

That makes sense. I can't see cic drs calling each candidates local Dr and getting their medical record... Fairly certain that's against the law... I'm guessing if someone is being assessed for medical inadmissablity they might be asked for more info. But i haven't found anyone here who has been asked to send their full medical history.

Medical results are directly uploaded to CIC and you are only informed about that. During Interrogation the Physician may ask you if you smoke etc. Make sure no family member is around when you are being physically checked and being questioned at the same time. Insist to the family member that you are going alone there. :)

The PP will not contact your local medical clinics. If they are in doubt they will ask you for further examination, and hold the result until things get cleared. For my 3 year old daughter the PP heard a humming sound in heart and She referred to a specific Cardiovascular Pediatrician to assess in details. Then there was a specific format for the findings of the doctor and they were uploaded by the PP to CIC. She said she will have to show them the investigation she did and how she clarified her doubts.
In short they will ask further examination to rule out the doubts and will hold the uploading until things clear up.

Thanks a lot! And hope your daughter is doing better now :)

She is doing fine. I was actually glad that doctor pointed out that, and we got a chance to rule out anything serious.
We have never noticed that. It was ruled out as a Benign humming..

I'm having the same freakout! I'm a heavy smoker and I'm worried the xray will show I'm dying or something and shatter all my dreams:/
