Hi Friends!
Need help with what info needs to be added for question 13 of citizenship form -
"have you ever had immigration or citizen status in any country other than Canada including you country of birth"? Would green card application filed in US needs to be shown for citizenship application in Canada? We were in US and had filed GC application before we immigrated to Canada.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Country | Status |Date Obtained/Effective date | If you status is no longer valid indicate the end date|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
USA | Green Card Filed | Not yet obtained |

My understanding is that I do not need to show US Green Card details as my Green card is not received?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
TIA
Rashmi

The application itself gives you no rights at all, it does not permit you to reside in the US, so you do not have status there, so that does not need to be listed.

Now, you mention that you were in the US. If you were there as anything other than a tourist you would need to declare that.

Thanks for your response.
We were on H1B visa in US (which I looked up is an non-immigration visa).

So, the only details which needs to be added is country of citizenship details.

I'm not sure your interpretation is correct.

The guide says
Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen).
and "student" or "worker" are not immigration categories, and those should be disclosed.

H1B is a worker visa, so it would fall under this description.

When filling out this form do consult the guide and also consider that not telling IRCC something they need to know can cause much more trouble (refused application, issues around misrepresentation,...) than giving them a bit more information than they were actually looking for.

You do have to declare any work or student status on top of any citizenship or permanent residency (according to the guide) so the H1B visa needs to be declared.
