Hi everyone,

Hope all is well and thank you for reading my concern.

Following is my situation:
My 5-year eligibility is from July 16 2020 to July 17 2025.
My study permit is from Aug 11 2019 to Nov 30 21
My PGWP is from June 02 2021 to June 06 2024
Finished my study on Apr 30 2021 and submitted for PGWP application on May 03 2021. Got my PGWP is from like mentioned above.

Please kindly help clear my concerns regarding the physical calculator:
1/ What dates should I include as international student? should it be July 1 2020, or should it be the issued date from my study permit which is Aug 11 2019?
2/ During my implied status between study permit and PGWP, I would assume the status is still considered International Student until June 01 2021, or foreign worker on the date I submitted for PGWP which is on May 03 2021? Should I write any explanations for this?

Really appreciated your inputs and insights in advance.
Many thanks

Hi Yongjian, Iam also in similar situation, can you explain how you proceed
I came to canada as a International student on Dec 16th 2019 and has study permit till November 30th 2021.
I applied PostGraduation work permit on August 12 th 2021 after getting documents from my college
I received my Post Graduation Work permit on Jan 15th 2022 till May 1 2023
Now my question is in Citizenship application what should I state from December 1st 2021 till Jan 14th 2022
Not sure what to fill in that gap from December 1 at 2021 till Jan14th 2022
I was working full time during that period as an international students we can work during that Implied period.

In Summary:(In citizenship application I filled like below)

International student from Dec 16th 2019 till November 30th 2021.
Temporary foreign worker from Jan 15th 2022 till May 1 2023.

(What to fill from December 1st 2021 till Jan 14th 2022)Please let me know.

See my answer here, https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...nship-application-urgent.874235/post-11103498

In short - if you were authorized to work while waiting for PGWP (see https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1181 ) then you put "temporary foreign worker" as the status.

If you didn't meet those requirements and did not work during maintained status during that time, then the usual rule is that the maintained status inherits from your expired document - so then you should put "international student".

But at this point IRCC is just trying to verify physical presence - so they care more about the fact that you had status and less about the type of status.

That user hasn't been seen in months so you might need to wait for a reply.

You might have better luck asking the original OP (who at least checked in the forum earlier today).

That said, I stand by my original answer - once you applied for PGWP you're a foreign worker on implied status, so it'd look like this:

date of study permit (issued) to day before date applied for PGWP - international student
date applied for PGWP to day before date of PGWP (when PGWP says it was issued) - foreign worker on maintained status
date of PGWP to PGWP expiry OR day before PR granted (whichever is first) - foreign worker

Thank you for the response, I didnt see a foreign worker on a maintained status category in the options to select tho

ah right, i just meant

- make it a separate entry from your PGWP dates
- mark it as foreign worker in the drop down
- if you have a place to add notes, note down that you were on maintained status.
- include the proof of maintained status as part of the supporting docs when you get to that section.

Or this is what I did (copying from my post in a different thread)
I simply didn’t even include that period of time, I listed the time I was a student (up until the day I officially received the completion letter), and then the time I was an worker (from the day pgwp was officially issued). I had more than enough to claim the max 365 days anyways. I attached a LOE to explain how I had valid status in-between and didn’t include it because I wasn’t sure, and I had enough days anyway. I really don’t think this matters at the end of the day, it was just me being anal about definitions.

I am all completed and just waiting for ceremony now so it worked fine in my case.

Did you have any overlapping work experience?
I did and it was not an issue. I was able to record the actual dates accurately on the web app and it submitted successfully.
Do i need to mention jobs i worked a week or 2 while working fulltime elsewhere?
My understanding is no, the occasional short job isn't important. No harm in including it, but folks here have left it off without issues.
