Hi, I need some urgent help before initiating the WES ECA degree assessment.

I've 2 degrees:
1. 4-year Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree from the University of Punjab - CGPA 3.30/4 - (Finished in 2008)
2. 2-year Masters of Business Administration (Management) degree from Virtual University of Pakistan. CGPA 2.56/4 - (Finished in 2012)

Questions:
1. Is it recommended to add both these degrees in the same WES application for IRCC ECA assessment?
2. I finished these degrees in 2008 and 2012, but I'm not sure in which year the degrees were awarded. Does 'Year Awarded' matter?
3. If anyone has done a WES evaluation recently, how much time did it take until you received the PDF report?
4. Also, does overall CGPA affect anything in the report?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Based on my experience and what I've seen from recent WES applicants:

  1. Yes, it's usually recommended to include both degrees in the same WES application for an IRCC ECA. WES will evaluate each credential and determine the highest Canadian equivalency. Having both credentials can sometimes help demonstrate a stronger educational profile.
  2. Year Awarded generally refers to the year your degree was officially conferred or awarded. If you're unsure, check your degree certificate. In most cases, a small discrepancy between the completion year and award year isn't a major issue, but it's best to enter the information exactly as it appears on your documents.
  3. Processing times vary. Many applicants report receiving their PDF report within a few weeks after WES receives and accepts all required documents, though timelines can change depending on application volume and document verification requirements.
  4. Your CGPA itself doesn't directly affect the Canadian equivalency. WES primarily assesses the level and authenticity of your credentials. The report may show your academic results, but for IRCC purposes the key outcome is the Canadian educational equivalency awarded.
For reference, if you're trying to understand GPA/CGPA calculations and conversions, this CGPA to Percentage Guide may also be useful.

Good luck with your ECA application!
