I´m from Mexico and I would like to emigrate to Alberta.

Currently I´m training and geting certified as a welder (SMAW, MIG and TIG) here in Mexico
my goal is to emigrate there and to start an apprenticeship in Edmonton at the Alberta Pipe Trades College.

after te 3 year apprenticeship and getting my red seal I would like to work in the oilfields near Ft. McMurray.

That is my plan, I´m in my mid 30s and I have no previous experience as a welder, I hold a college degree
but that is not relevant if I want to work as a welder.

So my question is: Does anybody has done something like I plan to do?

Emigrate to Alberta and start an apprenticeship in welding, pipefitting, plumbing, etc?

I was checking the Express Entry requirements and I need at least 12 month experience and I don´t know
if I can the permit and visa to go and do an apprenticeship

I´ve heard about the NorQuest College’s apprenticeship preparation program so that might help in order to get a spot on the apprenticeship program?

I would like to know about your story and experience attempting something like I want to do.

your Info is well appreciated

Your plan as it stands now won't work. Apprenticeships are only open to Canadian permanent residents and citizens.

So you would have to become a permanent resident first.

And yes - to qualify to immigrate you need to have one year of full time work experience.
