I was headed into CA and told the immigration officer that I was coming in for work. He spun me back to the US for not having the proper paperwork to work in CA. I later came back and said I was coming in to see some friends. Not a lie however, I got a report for misrepresentation and will have to go and see the immigration judge.

I know what I did was dumb I am not looking for sympathy just some advice about what I should do during the hearing and what the possible outcomes are. From what I read I am looking at a 2 year refusal from entering the country. :o

Were you actually coming to work illegally or why would you say that?

Tell them that it was a misunderstanding. That you actually meant to say that you were coming because you had some leads about work and were planning on doing a job interview or two and if it would have looked promising, you would of course have done it legally and asked the employer to apply for your LMO so you could then apply for your work permit.

Are you an American Citizen or were you just visiting the US and then tried coming to Canada?

What did you mean you were coming "for work"? If you are from the US it's entirely likely that you were sent here from an American company to work which is covered under NAFTA. However I'm sure they asked for proof, which if you did not have it, that would put a mark on your record.
