Want to bring soon to be wife with me to Canada while studying, how?

Hi, My gf of 3 years is working dubai and I recently arrived this september in Canada for my masters degree. I am going back home for the holidays in the Philippines this december. Both of us would like to be together as I study, and she works here as my spouse. She has not tried coming here before and all of the available jobs recommended for ther field are in a different province. She has over $4000cad in savings as well.

Will marrying allow her to go here with an open work permit with me? Is there a minimum number of years to have been married before they consider her as my spouse?
The reason we cannot marry is that she will lose her residency in dubai if she does, so I dont want her stuck back home while I study here.
Pls help if this is possible.

You must be either married or common law in order for her to be able to apply for an open work permit. Common law means that you have physically lived together continuously for at least one full year (and can prove it).

Once you are either married or common law, she will be able to apply for an open work permit. However none of us here can say whether she will be approved - that's up to CIC. Some applications are approved, unfortunately some are refused as well (so this is certainly a risk you will face).

Thx for the reply, we have never stayed together physically longer than 4 months at a time, but we have been together for the past 3 years. Opportunities back then landed her a job and residency in Dubai, while I stayed in the Philippines. If we do get married prior to the application, does that mean we need to wait for a year before trying?
