Waiting in India for Canadian PR

Can I ask waiting for my PR papers in India it has been processing for 20 months already, just wondering if we should apply for a visiting visa we have emailed Delhi immigration and still no response we have not got any reply or heard from them what should i do? Any ideas?

I got the interview in Delhi, May 11, 2016 and they told me that within 3-4 weeks I would recieve an email where to send passport. I would like to book flights but still have not recieved email or change of status, how long can i expect to wait?

Do not book flights until you physically see the visa in your passport. Although it seems like a good sign that they're going to send you passport instructions, that doesn't mean you got the visa.

Just wait another 1-2 weeks longer.

Thanks for the help. My husband is a Canadian and needs to get back to work, but is trying to wait here till my visa is ready so we can fly together, hopefully we don't have to spend more time apart.

We are still waiting after the interview, they told us at the time of the interview that it would take approximately 4 weeks that was May 11 2016 then we asked them about it and they replied that they were doing more background checks and that they have recieved everything they need. How long do background checks take. At the interview she said it was all good, its been 2 years since we applied how long do background checks take what does that mean we sent them everything they need is this a polite way of making us wait longer?
