Waiting for Mandatory BG check results for PR

Hi,
My husband applied for PR on May 2011 and got the medicals done in Sep 2011. He got his request for landing fee from the CIC in Nov 2011.
Meanwhile our marriage was fixed. So he did not pay the landing fee, and added me as spouse in the visa and sent for PR.
I did my medicals in March 2012. Now when we E-mailed asking for the status, they replied that they are waiting for our mandatory BG check results & they can't specify the timeframe to issue PR.
Could you please tell what is the timeframe for the BG check to get over(approximately)? also what other process is left after the BG check to issue PR?
Note: I got my police clearance in India. Do I need to get a clearance here as well? But I was not asked for any such documents still.

No, unfortunately. It varies by individual.

If "here" is Canada, no. You don't need a Canadian police clearance unless requested.
