Hello everyone. Our story is complicated.
My husband came to Canada as a visitor for 12 months in 2016. In July of 2017 he received a job and 2 year LIMEA(?) work specific permit. In July (with one year left on the permit) his employer fired him when he learned we had applied for spousal sponsorship and OWP. We are still waiting for our AOR, and because my husband has the work specific permit, he will be unable to work until he receives his OWP. He is already extremely bored and wanted to know if he is allowed to volunteer on work permits outside the work place. Things like the food bank, homeless shelter and so on.
Working online
Also, Italki is a fantastic international website used across the world for language users to connect with language teachers. You teach through skype or whatsap and get paid through the app. Is this not allowed for him to do while he is waiting for the OWP?
Thank you all for your advice!
