Visitors Visa while waiting for Sponsorship to complete (Philippines)

Me and my wife have been waiting about 5 months now for our application. I was already approved for sponsorship in Aug and our application was forwarded to Manila visa office Aug 17th. My wife's Application is in process but we got an email on Sept 1st that they needed NBI even though we included police clearance as asked on the check list. That information was provided to them on Sept 3rd. We haven't heard anything since.

We want to apply for visitors visa since it's only 100 and who knows we might get approved. I'm worried because they ask for her Passport for the application and there is possibility they will ask for passport for our sponsorship application. Does anybody know how long it take to get approved or denied for a visitors visa.

Does anybody have any advise on if trying for a visa this late in the process if good bad or pointless.

Well on FB page Proud Canadian Wives, there was one member who tried to apply for TRV while waiting for their spousal application. Luckily she was approved not for the trv but she got her immigrant visa/pr visa. It took them less than 5mos. Normally it will only take 7days for the visitor visa to received it either approved visitor visa or denied.

hahaha that is so funny. Thats exactly why I was asking. My wife is on there and she heard about that so it made me think of applying for Visitors visa too. I was just worried about if I did and we sent out her passport then they ask for it our our sponsorship. If it only takes about 7 days then it wouldn't be a big deal then

Don't bother applying for the visitor visa since you should be close to getting the PPR/visa.. My wife applied for hers, and when she landed, she got PPR back at home.

Yeah, there's no harm in trying and to think its only 100Cdn$ and it will only take u 7days to have the TRV or got denied. I asked one of the consultancy here in Phils of the amount that should be on the bank when applying for TRV, he said 350,000pesos but it still depend on how long ur applying for a visit. I think it should be 50$/day

350,000 pesos is way too much and not necessary. My wife got in with only $4000 CDN equivalent, for a 3 week stay, and she's from Vietnam (a country difficult to get TRVs from) and was already married to me with a PR application pending. $1000/week of stay is a good rule of thumb to follow.

But again as I mentioned before, don't bother trying for the visitor visa as it seems the PR application is close to the final stages now.

I believe that the 350,000pesos Is for the maximum stay in Canada which is 6 mos, like what i said the amount of money to be on the bank is still depend on the length if stay you/ur wife is applying for. If you'll be applying for a month, then maybe the 4000cdn would be enough. Hope processing time will not be that long, its very stressful.

Good luck to us applicants!

If an applicant asks for a 6 month stay, there's a good chance they will be refused. It's best to ask for a short stay, then hope they will give you the maximum 6 months when you arrive at the border. My wife asked for 3 weeks, but she received 6 months. It's far easier and more likely to succeed to apply for a few weeks with less cash, than to save up lots of cash for 6 months + asking for 6 month stay, and have a likely chance of being refused.

Yes and most of the time, the officers don't force you to stay the amount of time you're requesting, unless they suspect that you might not 100% abide by the rules. If all is good, they'll just give you the 6 months and you'll be on your way.

I would wait to get fully approved but I'm getting impatient now and want them here by Christmas. We got screwed when they decided that the Police clearance wasn't enough and requested for the NBI. I've heard it takes from 45 days to up to 3 months before they start working the application again. I had it set in my mind they might been here by Christmas or some time in January. Now I just don't know which is why I thought doing TRV would be a good idea.

So you guys think requesting for a month would be better and most likely they will just give 6 month upon entry?
