Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has any luck getting a visitor visa for a boyfriend/girlfriend in Mexico.
We have been in a relationship for over a year and I have been to see him 4 times. I would really like him to come here. Has anyone had any success in obtaining a visitor visa in a similar situation? I know we have to prove he has strong ties to Mexico and will return. But I am not sure what could tip the scales for immigration to allow him to come. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Yes - there are certainly people who have been successful.

If he can show proof of past travel to countries where he required a visa (and ideally many trips) - that's certainly a huge plus. Having a very established job or business is good - as is proof of assets (especially property ownership in his name). I would keep the trip to a few weeks - rather than a few months.

Good luck!

This is what I sent (10 years VISA granted):

- Letter of invitation stating that I would be responsible, the activities and the duration of the trip.
- Copy of my Canadian ID.
- Copy of my immigration status paper.
- My bank statements

This is what she sent:

- Job leave letter for the period requested.
- Copy of bank accounts.
- Passport with USA Visa (also for 10 years).

I think the whole trick was due to the USA Visa. She had never travelled outside of Mexico before, so she had no travel history but the fact that she was given the USA Visa was a real asset. So that's the way to go IMO. I know it will take more time, but there is nothing to lose and even cheaper flights and more travel options open once the USA Visa us given.
