Hello Expert,

I have a friend who used to be in a work permit for 4 years. For him to stay in Canada he applied for visitor's permit which is valid until May 2017.
Now he found a new employer and able to obtained an LMIA.

What are his options to apply for work permit?. We have tried the online eligibility assessment tools but according to the result he's not qualified to apply online.

Thanks in advance.

You need an Immigration Lawyer to address and argue your case...

Thanks, but do we really need a lawyer? is there a cheaper approach? like flag poling or sending application to canadian embassies in the US?

No, you most certainly don't need a lawyer.

If you are already in Canada as a visitor, you may not apply within Canada. You must apply for a work permit at a Canadian visa office:

responsible for the country where you live,
responsible for the country you are a citizen of, or
at a Canadian embassy or consulate in the United States of America.

thanks, I believe my friend has the third option, but the information on this link did not specify whether it is required to apply in person in canadian embassy outside canada or can just mail the application to apply.
