Hello, I am new to this forum so please bare with me.

My wife wants to extend her stay here in Canada. She is from Lithuania and before she came to Canada, she did not apply for any visitors visa as her country is part of the visa exempt countries and she was allowed 6 months. We got married this January 2016 (she was my fiance at that time she arrived here in Canada) She came 2015/Sept/03 and her stay expires 2016/March/02. She applied for extension last 2016/Jan/16.We want to extend her stay as we plan to go to eastern Canada (Torronto, etc.) during spring/summer season as our honeymoon and also to spend more time with my family here in Canada. Now, The question, is she still allowed to stay here in Canada if CIC don't get back to us about the status of her extension application by 2016/Mar/02? Also, how long does it take for them to process the application?

Hi

Yes, she can stay in Canada until she receives a decision on the extension app.

It's currently taking around 4 months. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/

Yes she is allowed to stay here in canada till she hear back from cic (i.e the outcome of the extension application) this is called implied status. upon approval of her visitors status extension ( doesn't matter even the decision comes many months after the actual status expiry date) the document she will get will be starting from 2016/Mar/02. so technically she will be considered staying legal in canada.
