Hello, I am new to this forum so please bare with me.

My wife wants to extend her stay here in Canada. She is from Lithuania and before she came to Canada, she did not apply for any visitors visa as her country is part of the visa exempt countries and she was allowed 6 months. We got married this January 2016 (she was my fiance at that time she arrived here in Canada) She came 2015/Sept/03 and her stay expires 2016/March/02. She applied for extension last 2016/Jan/16.We want to extend her stay as we plan to go to eastern Canada (Torronto, etc.) during spring/summer season as our honeymoon and also to spend more time with my family here in Canada. Now, The question, is she still allowed to stay here in Canada if CIC don't get back to us about the status of her extension application by 2016/Mar/02? Also, how long does it take for them to process the application?

I just realized I am on the wrong thread, I posted it on the Visitors thread already. Sorry.

I'm going to assume she applied online, yes?

Here is where you can check the processing timeline.

Visitor extension
These applications can be submitted online or by paper.

Once CIC has her visitor extension request, she can remain in Canada under "implied status" while CIC processes her extension request.

This "implied status" is only valid as long as she stays in Canada. If she leaves Canada during an extension's implied status -- her request will be considered null/void, since she is no longer in Canada. Then if she tries to re-enter Canada, it would be considered a brand-new entry attempt to be granted (or not!) by CBSA.
