Im a us citizen and planning to stay 6 months longer in canada, is there any process to stay like a year in canada like a "American visa "type and what is it called? And also how much Proof of sufficient funds do i have to show at the airport immigration during my 6months stay?

There is no "American visa".

As someone from a visa exempt country - you should be allowed into the country for six months (how long you are actually allowed into the country is up to the immigration officer you encounter at the border). If you wish to stay longer, you can apply for an extension once you are in Canada.

I would recommend that you be able to show at least $1000 for every month you plan to stay here - probably better to be able to show $10K.

even if your staying in a friends house for 6months, you still need CAD$1,0000 or more to show suffient funds ? Thanks again
