Visitor visa with pending LMIA

I am currently in Canada though the IEC and my visa ends on May 9 2019, my employer as filed for an LMIA as she would like me to continue working here. We are under the understanding that there is no way it will be processed before I have to leave so have accepted that I will have to go home whilst I wait for the approval. When my visa ends I wanted to do a bit of travelling in Canada for a few weeks before I go home, can I go to the border on May 9 and come back in on a visitor visa?

Thankyou! I was doing some googleing and wanted to know whether I would have to go to the border in order to activate it where I then came across this link...

The seems to be pretty much the same thing as you sent me apart from no mention of needing to apply 2 months before? Now I am very confused!
