My wife is a Canadian citizen living in Nova Scotia. She is pregnant and due in April 2017. I am from Pakistan and we are planning to apply for my PR as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have just applied for my visitor visa on the grounds that she is alone and has no family or support system. What do you think my chances are and do you have any advice for us?

Almost no chance. Sorry to tell you that. To be successful you will need to apply for a short visit and show very strong ties to Pakistan. CIC will consider your wife being preganant as strong indication that you will stay in Canada.

I will say still slim chance is there. Strong letter is required along with some other proof of ties with Pakistan. some time embassy do consider on humanitarian grounds.

Good Luck
