Hello all,
I had applied for a visitor visa on 2nd July because I have to attend a conference in Canada (the invitation for the conference, the registration fee slip were provided with my application, as well as adequate financial status, a description of family and work in India, including also property papers & LIC receipts, a frequent travel history over the last 23 years to various countries in Europe and Asia).
On 11th July I received a mail from the immigration office stating that my biometrics were valid for the next ten years. I also received a message from the VAC to collect my passport with the decision. Yesterday I collected the passport and it did not have a visa- only a slip stating important info had been sent to me on my mail. I have searched my mail, my spam and junk folders but there is no other mail except the one stating the biometrics are valid for ten years. I have not understood the reason for refusal and don't know how to proceed to re-apply, because they will simply refuse if the same papers are given. How does one approach the embassy to receive the reasons for refusal? Their general email id inbox is full and the automated response states they may revert if they consider the email requires a response in 30 days. I have to travel end September- is there any way to appeal or at least learn the reasons for refusal? Thank you for the suggestions and help. N.S.

You cannot appeal. Do you have a CIC account? The letter will always be sent there. If you don't have an account, create one and link the application.

You can also order your GCMS notes (Google "GCMS notes"). These will take at least a month.

Done both - made the CIC account and waiting for info there as well as asked for the GCMS notes through an agency online. Hopefully will get a revert in time enough to re-apply and receive the visa to travel. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the info.
