Hi everyone,

I am a Canadian Citizen, currently living with my husband in our home country, Bangladesh. I started application for my husband's visitor's visa. I got stuck on few things:

1) When we answer questions to generate personalized checklist, there's a question "purpose of your visit" - should I be selecting tourism or visit friends/family? I selected visit friends/family (my sisters live in Canada and my husband and I are planning to go to Canada on a summer vacation this year). As per my selection, I was asked to upload invitation letter. My question is, can I invite my spouse to Canada even though I am not living in Canada?

2) Proof of funds - I have been living in Bangladesh with my husband for 2 years+. Can I show myself as financial supporter of my husband in addition to his own income?

3) Can I provide a notarized letter from Canada stating that I eventually plan to bring my husband to Canada as PR, but since the processing time for PR is long, we have put that in hold for now and instead applying for visitor visa so he can at least visit Canada with me for vacation? I was thinking may be submitting this letter will strengthen his application as majority of applications are getting rejected with reason being visa officer is not convinced applicant will return back to his/her's home country.

1. your relatives living in Canada should be the ones inviting you.
2. you can show funds as a married couple. If account is in your name you can attach a letter saying that you will be supporting the cost of your spouse’s visit. If you are the primary breadwinner for the family it may make it difficult for your spouse to get a TRV depending on your ties to Bangladesh. There will likely be concerns that you are trying to move back to Canada permanently and will need to try to provide proof that this is not the case.
3. Would not indicate your plans of eventually settling in Canada. A notarized letter saying that you will return to Bangladesh will have no impact on your application and isn’t enforceable so save your money. You need to submit proof of your ties to Bangladesh and lack of ties to Canada. Proof of good longterm employment in Bangladesh, property ownership even if it is a lease, family you may be supporting in Bangladesh versus family ties in Canada, etc. Do not buy tickets or make any non-refundable arrangements before getting the TRV because it may be difficult to get approved.
