Hello everyone,

I am seeking guidance regarding visitor visa applications.

I am currently in India and I am a Permanent Resident of Canada. My husband, who is also a Permanent Resident of Canada, and my younger sister, who is a Canadian citizen, are both residing in Canada.

I will be attending my Practical Nursing convocation in March, and I would like my grandmother and my husband’s mother (my mother-in-law) to attend.

I have the following questions:

  1. Is it possible to apply for both applicants at the same time using one IRCC online account, or must each applicant have a completely separate submission?
  2. Since I am currently outside Canada (in India), can visitor visa applications still be submitted for my convocation in March, or does the inviter need to be physically present in Canada?
  3. Regarding invitation letters:
    • Can my husband (Permanent Resident of Canada) write an invitation letter for his mother, stating that she wishes to attend my convocation?
    • Can my younger sister (Canadian citizen) write an invitation letter for my grandmother, stating the same purpose?
  4. Is it acceptable to list my convocation as the primary purpose of visit for both applicants, even though one visitor is my grandmother and the other is my husband’s mother?

Any guidance or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
