I have applied for the extension of my relatives who came to Canada on visitor visa. The result is still awaited. However, I don't want them to get an extension for more than 3 months. Is there any way I could notify this thing to Visa officer?

No. How long you want them to stay is irrelevant.

Probably one way to do this: If you included proof of your financial support when s/he applied to extend the stay, you could email IRCC to inform them that you do not wish to financially support the relative's stay beyond three months.

Not sure if this will work, but you may want to try this option
