Hi all,

My visitor visa extension is rejected today along with my mom's and I need urgent help regarding this. The visa extension is rejected citing incorrect information. I have applied well before the visa expiry date but the rejection letter from cic states that I have applied after the expiry date of my visa and that I am in Canada illegally. How can I send them the dates of visa and where? What can I do now?

Thank you

You'll need to provide the details of your case. When did you enter Canada? How long a visit were you granted? When did you submit the extension and on what date did CIC receive the extension application? What exactly does the refusal letter from CIC say?

We renewed the visa for another 6 months from Sep 20th 2016 to Feb 28th 2017.
You cannot renew the TRV. You can only extend your visitor status.

When did you apply the first time to extend the visitor status last year?

I entered Canada with my mom on March 1st 2016 on visitor visa (to visit my brother) which was valid for 6 months.
What is the expiry date on the TRV sticker in your passport?

Have you received any other form along with this refusal?

IMO, in a vacuum, without knowing OP and their mom's full profile or case, I think applying for this second extension (after being granted the first) was already asking for too much. I think the officer did make a mistake with dating the authorized period of stay, but I doubt the second extension would have been successful even if the adjusted stay dates had been considered.

If you ask me, you and your mom should leave Canada immediately to avoid jeopardizing any future re-entries or applications. Or consult a lawyer. You're already in a delicate situation at this point.

Agreed, bellaluna.

The OP has attempted to live for an extended duration on a TRV. If this extension was granted, it would have given her a stay of 1.5 years - which is untypical of a visitor.

The OP is also not clear (in her posts) about terms like TRV and visitor status. She stated she entered, in March last year, on a TRV which was valid for 6 months. Or did she mean visitor status of 6 months? Anyway

It is futile to attempt to convince IRCC to overturn the rejection. Not sure if she has been issued a removal order as well. She must leave immediately
