Hi there,

My boyfriend is currently visiting myself in Canada. He's a British citizen. His six months expire in September, and he'd like to stay here to visit me for longer than that. He has a full time stable job that he does remotely (it is entirely UK based and does not engage with any Canadians or participate in the UK economy). He has clear intent to go home because his job is there and so are all his family members. I'm planning to move to the UK to be with him after I graduate next spring.

Do you guys have any tips on how to get approved for a visitor record/extension? Do you think he has a good chance of getting accepted? We're quite anxious about this all.

He can apply for an extension a few weeks before his visitor status expires. With sufficient proof of funds, there shouldn't be an issue.

Hey, thanks for the reply. He has a good paying job. Does available funds refer to cash or does proof of monthly income suffice?

Either. IRCC has to be confident that he will not work illegally in Canada to support his extended stay.

Okay great thanks. If we send pay stubs, bank statements, and confirmation of employment via a contract or letter is that sufficient?

Pay stubs and bank statement is sufficient.
Thank you so much for all your help! He isn't required to submit any biometrics, and we have all forms filled out, we're just waiting to hear back from an immigration lawyer to read things over for us. My only other question would be the optional client information letter - we've recently become engaged, and his purpose to visit that he's stated is wanting to keep me company while I finish my degree as well as work on wedding plans. I'm just wondering if this is a valid enough reason? We believe that we've got sufficient proof to show that he doesn't wish to stay permanently and won't work illegally so our concern for being disapproved is reason to visit (again, we aren't sure if this is even a category you can be disapproved for, sorry for all the questions)

??

It is WAY TOO EARLY to apply for an extension. Apply a few weeks before his status expires in September.

Having a lawyer review the app is really a pointless waste of money. It's just a visitor extension app, not complicated.

No idea what you mean about a client information letter. Visiting fiance is fine for a reason.

Oh okay, thank you for all the clarification. It's been really helpful. The only reason we considered getting a lawyer was to ensure we did not miss anything, but you are right that it is a straightforward application. From what I've seen on this forum first time extensions typically go through especially if the applicant is deemed low risk.
Thanks so much, we appreciate it.
