My visitor visa ran out today. I am a uk citizen staying with canadian boyfriend and needed to extend my visa by another 6 months so that we could apply fship. Dor spousal/common law sponsorship. Due to stupid oversight i thought my visa expied next month and just realised it was this month. Can i still apply for an extension or will i be declined now dueor to overstaying if even for just a few weeks. Any advice appreciated thanks.

It's too late to apply for a simple extension. You'll need to submit an application to restore your status since your visa ran out today.

My wife is also applying for restoration of status. We're still biting our fingers over whether we've done everything correctly, but we did get some help from people on this forum, for which we're grateful. We're going to file a paper application soon. Let me know if you need any advice and I'll do my best to answer.
