Hi All,

I am in Canada on a Work Permit. My parents came on visitor's visa in Aug 2016. They got 6 months stay. I am planning to apply for their extension. Few queries
- Generally, how much time is provided as extension?
- What are chances or rejection? What can be the reasons?
- Is there an implication, when they come to Canada next time?

Regards

A much as you can you justify to CIC and they see fit.

Chances depend on your specifics.

Reasons can be many, for example failing to show an actual purpose for the extension ("visiting" is not a solid reason).

They will be asked why they spend so much time in Canada.

When 6 months are given it doesn't mean "spend 6 months" it means "I'm giving you enough time to carry your business here plus incidentals plus any extensions"... asking for more can be read as an abuse of the good faith of CIC.

There are channels for parents to stay longer. Look for a Supervisa, maybe that is better for your intentions.

Just a small correction.. Super Visa is only for PRs not people on work permit.
