Visitor Visa extension for In-Laws

Hi friends,

My parents in law came to Canada on TRV on 13-Sep-2019. Their visa is valid until 12-Mar-2020 (6 months). They would like to stay with us for another 3 months until end of May to visit tulip festival in Ottawa this Spring. Initially when I applied for TRV the reason for their visit I provided is to ‘visit family’. Now when I extend the visa, in the purpose for extension i am planning to put ‘Tourism’. Please advise your experience and any input in regards to this.

Extension for parents and parents in-law is common with TRV. However, you've to do it with care, so as not to affect their existing multiple TRV visas if that is the case. From experience, most extension request in this category are based on family functions and unexpected circumstances such as birthday, graduation, naming ceremony, health issue and/or doctor's appointment and so on. These are easy to substantiate.
