Visitor Visa Extension- Can stay in canada until a decison was made?

Hello All,

My MIL came to Canada on April 15 and she will be completing her 6 months on October 15th, We have applied for her extension on September 13th. As of now we did not receive any updates on the application. We applied online for her extension,
i want to know can she stay in Canada until a decision is made or she must exit on or before completion of her 6 month stay?

Please guide on this.
