Hi Guys,

My parents received visitor visa (i.e., not super visa ) recently. :D
But we need to clarify few questions before proceeding further.

1. In the invitation letter, we specified a specific month for ex. September.. So do they have to come in that specified month only which we mentioned in invitation letter or can visit before.

2. Limit for new Jewellery to carry and taxes on it.

Can you guys please give an idea on this.

Thanks for the help. :)

Hi,

1. No, they can travel anytime during the validity of their TRVs.

2. Are they bringing the jewelry for their personal use during their visit? Or for some other purpose?

Cheers

Thanks for your reply. :)

No, they want to bring the jewellery as gift.
But what if its the personal use and will take back after stay time?

Your parents can bring gifts without paying duty or taxes if the value of each gift is CAD 60 or less. If the value exceeds CAD 60 then they will have to pay duty and taxes on the excess amount.

If it is for personal use then they must declare it when they arrive at the POE. They must carry receipts showing how much they paid for the jewelry + photographs of the jewelry. If they declare it when they arrive and take it back with them when they leave then they will not have to pay any duty or taxes
