visitor visa confusion

i have visited canada but still confused that i stayed on expire visa or was valid, means the mentioned dates on my 6 months visit visa was the valid time to enter and leave canada or visa started from the date of entry to canada please tell me..

If you were given visit visa for 6 months for eg.,

Jan 1st - June 30th

And you visited Canada on 22nd May: 2 Scenarios
Officer Stamped password with no date = you can stay upto 6 months ie., You have to leave by 22nd Nov
Officer Stamped a date = you have to leave by that date

Thankyou for your precious words, at the time of entry the immigration officer just stamped my entry date to canada and i didnt find
any other stamp mentioning validity so i was valid for the comming six months ???? because i entered to canada b4 18 days of my visa expiry. please tell me

yup thats correct..u are allowed to stay for 6 months
