My parents are planning to visit Canada thus summer. Should they apply for a visa where I send the invitation letter or should they just apply for tourism purposes all by themselves (i.e. no invitation from son)? Which is a better option?

I'm a Permanent Resident.

Thanks.

It depends on their specifics and their personal/professional circumstances.

Why wouldn't you want to invite your parents?

They have business, properties...etc in India, and are very well settled. Travel agents in India are suggesting not too include invitation letter from children because of chances of rejection. Therefore, I am a bit concerned about it.

your thoughts?

My advice: Do not listen to these travel agents.

On the contrary, the visa officer will:
1. Question why you, their son with a PR, have not invited them especially if they will be visiting the same city/province where you live

2. Without an invitation letter + only for tourism (and not as a 'Family Visit'), your parents will get a shorter TRV validity

Your parents have strong applications (property, assets, business, etc). Do prepare their applications/evidence well. I'm sure they will get long validity TRVs
