Hi there,

I am trying to apply through the new portal (IRCC) and I want to apply for myself, my wife and my parents. We are planning to attend the wedding of my cousin and her father would be the sponsor.

Currently, he doesn't have a job and is retired, but he has enough funds. Should that be okay if he provides Sponsor Letter, Bank Reference Letter and Passport Copy?

Also, in my family (all applicants), I would be the financial sponsor (without property documents) and my father will be showing his property documents. How should we proceed with the application?

Should I be the main applicant or the new portal will consider separate applications for each member?

Your help would be appreciated!

Regards,
Pankit

Your parents need to apply separately. They are not your dependents and cannot be included in your application.

Your parents are not included with your application. They are not your dependants. You and your wife in one application and your parents in another. Your parents show their own bank accountants. Your accounts can be included but IRCC doesn’t need to consider them as your funds are not your parents.

No such thing as sponsoring but your cousin and her father can include a letter of invitation. Your cousin and father are not considered your family members. Her father may be considered your parents extended family.

Thanks for your reply @scylla !

Even if I select Group application as Yes and add 4 members under that group? Like, do I need to create a separate account in order to make a separate application for my parents?

Thanks for that, @Naturgrl .

What if my parents are retired and are financially dependent on me?

Your are not a group application. These are for families with spouse and child under 22. They need to provide their own bank accounts. You can include your funds but IRCC does not have to consider them. To get a TRV, they must show their own funds, travel history and ties to home country.

The “ invitation “ is just that , an invitation . The onus is still on the applicants to show travel history , finances , ties to their country , and that they’ll return once their visit is complete, and they won’t abuse the visa . The invitation is just an extremely small part of the application, not the main part
