Visitor visa almost expired, no reply from my visitor visa extension or PR application - what to do?

I landed in Canada on December 18th 2017, they didn't stamp my passport but I know I have 6 months from that date.
So my first visitor visa expires in exactly 5 days. I applied for a visitor visa on May 11th 2018. On the Canada government website it says it takes 31 days for a reply - I only realised today it would only count business working days. Which would lead me to 25th June 2018... 6 days after my original visa expires.

My husband and I also just sent of our spousal sponsorship and it arrived at the office on 11th June 2018. We left it way too late because I had a lot of trouble gathering many police certificates worldwide.

Now I have only 5 days left on my visa before, I guess, it'll be illegal for me to stay in the country. Is this correct?

What should I do?
If I leave then my inland spousal application will be voided. If I fly away and instantly fly back into Canada then there's a large chance they won't let me back in again so soon.
Can I do anything at the Canadian airport

No, you are not correct. :)

More accurately, you have an outstanding application for a visitor visa, which you submitted while your existing visa was still valid.

You are therefore on what is referred to as "implied status" and your continued presence in Canada is legal.
