Hi all,

My fiance is sponsoring me under "Common-law sponsorship OUTSIDE Canada".

We applied when we were in New Zealand (my home country) in April 2018. However, since then, we have moved to Canada (in July).

I have been here as a visitor, awaiting the sponsorship approval to become a PR.

My visitor visa expires in January 2019 and I'm worried that my PR approval won't have come through in time.

What should I do? Extend my visitor visa? Or is there something else I should do to ensure I can continue to stay in Canada and wait for PR??

Thanks for your help!
Amanda

Yes, extend your visitor visa. The PR application confers no status, either actual or implied.

To extend my visitor visa, it says the wait time is 105 days. In that case, my current visitor visa will be expired by the time this one is going to come through. Can I stay in Canada if this happens?

You are applying to extend your current visitor status. You don't have a visitor visa.

Yes, you can stay. You will be on implied status + dual intent (applied for PR). You don't need to leave
