Hi All,

My parents are visiting me here in Canada and are on a "visitor record" (the big paper which they received when they extended their visitor stay), expiring in December.

In September they went to my wedding in Mexico (Vancouver to Mexico back to Vancouver, direct) - and re-entered through immigration, and got a new stamp on their passport.

Now my question is, do I request a renewal of visitor status based on their VISITOR RECORD expiry date (big paper)?

Or do I do it based on the stamp which they received when reentering in September?

Thank you! This is correct even if they only stayed 7 days in Mexico, right?

So in theory, their stay is now valid until March 29th 2015 (stamp is for Sept 29 2014). Which means I don't need to apply for renewal until February or so?

Yup

BTW this future extension would hold a high risk of being denied. By March 2015 your parents would have been living in Canada for more than a full year (original + extension + new), unless there is a strong reason to keep them in the country this might be seen as an abusive use of their visitor status. If the plan is for them to be visiting long term be sure to apply for a parents supervisa.

Does the pending application for PGP sponsorship help with this?

And secondly, can I apply for this supervisa from within the country?
