Hello! I have many doubts about my situation and that of my husband. Probably someome with a similar experience could help.

We arrived in Canada on november 2018 with the eTa authorization and we can stay until the beginning of may (6 months exactly). We are here because my husband is attending a course in a private school. The study program is less than 6 months. That is why we are both visitors.

I would like to attend a course that will start on june. It is a private school and the program will be for about 5 months.

We have already applyed for an extension of our status as visitors for other 6 months. So, we are waiting for their respond and we can stay until at least may.

My doubts are:

Can I apply for the course I am interested in from inside Canada? (It is impossibile they give me a student permit, I would remain a visitor if they accept me).

If they will deny us the extension of our visitor status and the school will accept my application, can we request again the extension? Because, I think, this time I have a motivation to stay, I have to attend a school.

If they accept our request for extension until a specific date that is before the end of my course, what I should do? It is possible to ask for another extension until the end of the study program, even though it is a private school?

Thanks to anyone could help

You can apply.

If you are refused, you will likely be out of status by that point and should leave Canada. A short course is not a compelling reason for staying in Canada.

You could try for another extension but no guarantees. As I said, your course is not a compelling reason.

Thank you for your answer.
Do you think it is difficult to be accepted? I mean, probably they do not give you other 6 months, but at least 2 or 3?
The other solution could be leave the country and after 1 month come back with the acceptance letter from the school. Do you think they let you come in and give you other 6 months?
I know it depends and every situation is different. I try asking.

Thank you
