I am in process of PR application under PNP, so it takes like over one year. My previous work permit and study permit are expired, so I have changed to visitor record, while my multiple entry visa is still valid.

Can I leave Canada and come back under this scenario? I believe many people waiting for PR may have similar question like me. I think visitor record terminate if I leave Canada, but I am not sure if I can get a new one at border. Hope someone can tell me how this gonna work.

You can try. Yes, the permit may expire (it might still be valid if only travelling to the USA). If the permit is not honored then you will be re assessed by a CBSA agent. They can allow you in or refuse entry.

It would be a waste of time talking about chances. You have to evaluate if you are willing to take the risk. As always it depends on the officer at the point on entry evaluating your case.

Thank you! I will consider about the risk.
