Hi All,
I'm looking to extend the stay of a family member (US national) by applying for a visitor record. However, I have a few questions before making the application -
(i) Would it be fine if we drove to the border and reentered Canada to reset the clock? Also, would this require a quarantining period considering that we'll be just turning back at the border (if permitted)?
(ii) Per the website, I need to apply 30 days prior to their status ending - does this still hold, or, am I able to apply after the 30 day window as well?
(iii) What is the processing time people have encountered in the recent past?
(iv) Per the website, once the application is made, the applicant is considered to be in 'Implied status' and is allowed to extend their stay. Is the extension through to the day a decision is made, or, is the applicant allowed to extend to their maximum allowable limit?
PS: Please feel free to share any experiences that you may have encountered
Many thanks,
NK
