Visitor Maintained status/ study permit

Hi,

As a visitor in Canada, I applied for a study permit and am currently awaiting a response. On the last day of my visit before it expired, I applied for a visitor visa extension to maintain my status while waiting for the decision on my study permit. Should I notify IRCC via the web form that I extended my visit while waiting for the study permit decision? And if my study permit application is refused, will they require me to leave the country after the restoration period?

Someone asked the same exact question several times over the past few days so find that question and bump it. Also asking under threads about moving from the US.
