Hi
Thanks for reading this.

My status: I am in Toronto on a work permit valid till May 2017
My wife's status: Here on a multiple entry TRV that expires in May 2017. She entered Canada on June 6th 2015 and so can stay till Dec 6th (6 months). We applied for her new work permit online within Canada on Aug 2nd and are still waiting for a response.

It will be very helpful if you can answer any of these three questions:

1. If we don't hear back on her work permit application by Dec 6th, can she continue to stay until we get a response (i.e., does implied status apply in this case?)

2. Assuming her work permit gets rejected before Dec 6th and she has to go back to my country, how soon can she re-enter. Will she face issues at port of entry if she comes back by January first week?

3. Assuming her work permit gets approved before Dec 6th, and she goes to my country to visit her parents from dec 24th to Jan 5th will she face any issues at port of entry when she comes back?

Yes.

There is no fixed date. It is likely that the CBSA officer will find her behaviour suspicious as she is behaving as if she was living in Canada rather than just visiting.

It may also be that no one would care.

Likely not.
