In a few days, my boyfriend will be applying for an extension as a visitor. In a few weeks, I will be sponsoring him for permanent residency as my common-law partner.

I think I read before that he could apply for an extension as long as we can prove that he's not here to stay, correct me if I'm wrong.

What reason should we put on the application for extension?

Thanks!

You have to always be completely honest with CIC. When I applied for a visa extension (I did it before I applied for PR - just like you), I stated that the reason for the extension of my stay is "to grant me a legal status in Canada while I will be waiting for PR, for which we will apply in a few weeks". Something along those lines. I got my visa without any problem. So just be open and honest with them and everything will be fine. Good luck!:)

Thanks! One more question, for how long did you request for an extension?
