so my mother applied for visitor extension within canada, she already has a permit valid until nov 2015, but applied for another 8 months extension until july 2016 bcz thats when my work permit expires. cic said that she had already been issued a document until nov 2015 recently. m confused now, is there a time frame before once can apply for visitor extension?

yes the visitor extension should be applied when the current status is near to expire (atleast 30 days before the expiry). if you apply too early it will be denied/refused and that's what happened with your mother's application ( 8 months). but no worries your mother can re-apply for an extension in OCT or NOV 2015 when her current permit will be near to expiry date with a valid reason to stay in canada.

hope it helps

In fact this was not a refusal. CIC denied to process her application as she is not eligible.

There is a difference as a refusal goes to your file and has to be reported on each subsequent application. In this case, the denial is due to administrative reasons, so it doesn't go on file.

thanks! btw she needs to travel outside canada, do u knw where do we send the passport for visitors within canada and what is the process? i cant seem to find thei nfo, bcz last time she needed visa she sent to ottawa cpc centre and that was in dec 2012 i remember but now its not in ottawa centre since they only issue visas for study or work permit holders ONLY.
