Most get 6 months on initial entry, then you apply for an extension, maybe you get maybe you don't.

Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay or Remain

I applied for extension of my visitors visa 3 months ago.. and I have received one letter today stating that my application has been transferred to the Canada Immigration Centre located at scarborough.
I want to know what's gona happen next and how long it could further take?
Plz let me know if anyone have such experience..
