hi everyone,

once again I need some advise, I am booking my ticket to see my wife for 6 months so were not apart for so long during our wait for the visa.
Question is if I am in Canada and I have to send my visa of do I have to return to London and wait and then fly back to Canada or can I stay in Canada and send it by post.

Thanks for all the help to everyone,

Hey,

I'm not sure what you mean by "send your visa". If you mean send your passport, then no.
From what I remember, you're a UK citizen, hence visa-exempt. You can go to Canada to visit your wife for 6 months, and wait out the process there. Once you're in Canada, and if your file has already been sent from Mississauga to London, send a case-specific enquiry to London informing them that you're in Canada for 6 months, and ask that they update your address.
If the COPR (confirmation of PR) is issued during that time, it will be sent to Canada directly, and you can flagpole at the nearest US border to become a PR.

You do not need to send your passport to London at any point in the process.

Hi ya,

Yeah I meant to type when they request for my passport, also how long does that usually take?

if you're from the UK ( or any of the visa-exempt countries) they won't request your passport at all. the only reason why some people get a request for their passport is because on top of getting a COPR, they will need a visa to enter Canada (the airline staff are not trained to read a COPR, and won't let people on a plane with only that, so there is a special visa in the passport). If you're visa-exempt, meaning you don't need a visa for Canada, they won't request your passport.
