Hello,

I come from a non visa exempt country (Guatemala) and I already own a visitor visa for Canada. I got a job offer for a company in Canada, LMIA exempt and I had to leave the country to apply for the work permit due to biometrics. I came to the USA to wait for the processing, I have already submitted the biometrics, but it has been 5 weeks already since the application and the processing time was supposed to be 3 weeks.

I am wondering if it is possible to enter Canada during this wait with my visitor visa. or if due to my nationality I cannot enter the country until a decision has been made on this work permit application?

Any help?

Thank you! It does seem I can enter the country, or so I have been told. Still seems risky. If I get denied entry this will show on my record, and it would not look good. Thank you for the information.

It's really up to you to convince the CBSA officer you will not work before you get your work permit. Just cover your bases as to why you want to visit before you intend to work.
