An applicant shouldn't leave Canada while an inland application is in progress. I don't believe there is any restriction on a sponsor leaving the country.

PR's must reside in Canada to sponsor, but leaving the country to visit shouldn't jeopardize the application.

People tend to say that 2-3 weeks should be the maximum. It's at the discretion of the VO. Anything more than a typical holiday-length trip, and you run the risk of the VO deciding that you are no longer residing in Canada, and therefore no longer eligible to sponsor.

Two or three weeks sounds implausible. What do businessmen, graduate students, and researchers who have to go out of Canada for a couple of months would do?

Wait, what? You have a friend who is an immigration consultant and you still posted the same question in three different threads?

So why did you ask the question? If you want to take the risk, go ahead. There have been a few cases here where PR sponsors went to visit their spouses for a few months, and then were refused. They may have won on appeal later, but that still added several years to their process.

I wouldn't trust an immigration consultant. The amount of stupid things I've seen and heard them do is staggering. I recall one who told the applicant to not send any proof of relationship, but to wait until they requested it. And of course how every single consultant tells people that they must apply inland if they're in Canada, which is clearly not the case, as indicated on the CIC site.

They would have the exact same problem. CIC could decide that they were not residing in Canada, because really, they aren't, and the application would be refused.
