I visited Canada for 6 month through land to visit my girlfriend, how long do I have to wait before I can visit again, and how long would I be able to visit for? It's been a month since then.

Technically speaking, you can return even tomorrow. However, whether or not you're allowed in and if you are allowed in then for how long would depend on the officer you meet at the POE.

It's generally advisable to remain in the home country for an equal length of time before attempting another entry

Even if it's just for a 4 days?

Of course, you can. Do bring along evidence of your ties/reasons to return.... employment/enrollment in a study program + adequate finances + a lease, etc

Would it be easier for me to go through land, or air? Or is customs basically the same in both. Basically if I go through land I would want to go on a Greyhound but I'm not sure what happens if I get denied and how I'd get back to the United States.

You most probably won't get denied an entry if it's only for four days
