Hi,

My brother who is 21 years old is a Osteogenesis imperfecta patient ( Brittle bone disease, is a group of genetic disorders that mainly affect the bones. It results in bones that break easily). I am planning to bring him to Canada along with my parents on Temporary resident visa. Is it possible for him to get temporary resident visa to Canada or he will not be able to clear medica

Note: He has had multiple fractures and surgeries earlier?

He doesn’t need a medical as he is only a visitor. Make sure he has excellent health insurance (if his condition can even be covered) because any hospital visits would be costly. Are you PR or citizen? If so he needs written authorization to travel to show his visit is essential.

Depending on country of origin he may in fact need a medical.

He may have difficulty getting a TRV. He will need to apply on his own and depending on his ties to his home country, his savings, previous international travel, etc. he could be denied. Many young adults have difficulty getting TRVs because they don't have the ties and savings to show they will be returning home. The fact that your parents will be going to Canada as well will mean that a large portion of your family will be in Canada creating less ties to your home country. Your brother could also be asked about saving or medical coverage at the POE if there are concerns that he may need to use the medical system. If he is able to get medical insurance that will cover fractures it is likely to be expensive.
