Hi all,

just a quick Q regarding visiting Canada as a tourist. Planning a short trip to visit friends in February, I’m also waiting to apply for EE and say I get an ITA before February will I still be permitted to enter with just an ETA if I have a return flight booked?

I also recently visited (November) - is there a limit on how many times I can visit without any sort of visitor visa?

many thanks.

You shouldn't have any issues if you have a return ticket. An eTA is basically the same thing as a TRV - just for visa exempt travelers. Having a TRV wouldn't allow you to come to Canada more frequently. The short answer on visiting frequency and length is that it's always up to CBSA at the border if you're allowed in and for how long. Generally speaking, you want to avoid making it look like you're attempting to live in Canada on an eTA. So general rule of thumb is that you want to be spending more time outside of Canada than inside of Canada in any 12 month period.

thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. Bit of ease of mind. I stayed for three weeks in November and planning for 10 days in February, so I can’t see that being an issue then.
